 Heart Decoration The Dragonfly Project

All proceeds, yes 100% of profits from the retreat's silent auction, will benefit The Dragonfly Project. This nonprofit organization depends on the generous support of donors to keep offering hope to those who are grieving.

A small act of kindness led to the creation of The Dragonfly Project in 2001. When a 10-year old friend died from a brain tumor, Anne Marquardt Brooker sent his family a story about dragonflies and their significance in the cycle of life and death. The story so moved the grieving family that it inspired Anne to create a nonprofit corporation that would reach out to others who were grieving the loss of a family member or friend.

Anne, who is now 14-years old, continues to lead the organization in its mission to offer a message of hope and encouragement to those in need. The Dragonfly Project consists of volunteers who help put together and mail condolence cards, a copy of the dragonfly story and a dragonfly keychain.

The Dragonfly Project has been featured in the Minneapolis Star Tribune and Women's Business Minnesota Magazine. It has also been featured on UPN Channel 29 News. On February 19, 2005, Anne Brooker received the Humanitarian Award from the Minnesota Oncology Hematology Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to its mission to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families.

The Dragonfly Project is a Minnesota nonprofit corporation with 501(c)(3) status. Find out more about Anne and The Dragonfly Project.
